This thread is to serve as a resource to those registered or those thinking about registering for Ski dreams trip. Please ask any questions you have (route, skill level, gear, logistics, tent situation, etc). There will also be a pre-trip meeting ~2 weeks before to review the plan and discuss any loaner gear needed.

    Hey all,

On my way back from June lakes I did a little recon up to Twin Lakes and our meeting area.

    See my attached photos:

We can possibly park multiple vehicles across the street from the Shell station at the old Buster's market but I'm going to call the sherrif station to confirm that we won't get ticketed.

We will definitely be digging out a parking space at the trailhead /end of road area. I'd bring a regular good steel shovel (I'll bring mine) as using Avi shovels will be a misery IMO.  One option may I suggest is to shuttle everyone up to roads end and then just leave one vehicle there and shuttle drivers back and forth to town. That way we only dig out one parking spot. The drive is only about 15 minutes.

On that note, there is a ton of snow up there folks! It's gonna be epic!

I also did a quick solo jaunt up Waterhouse peak on my way home and the tree skiing was so good!! I'm hoping to ski Thursday or Friday this week also. Anyone up for Jake's, Rubicon or Powderhouse?

I will being skiing with MAA this Sunday 17th as well see you there!

Thanks for the info. I'm digging the idea of shuttling and leaving just one car (pun intended).

The snow looks fantastic. The previous times I've attempted this trip the snow level has been low making the traverse on the valley floor a bit miserable so I decided new try would be in March instead of April. Good thing we're having a good snow year as well.

Hi team, just a few thoughts:

    • Itinerary: I'd like to spend some time reviewing up/down-hill techniques in Avy terrain as well as Avy rescue on Day 1, just to make sure that we are all on the same page :)
    • Carpooling: I'm planning to head out from South Lake Tahoe on Friday early morning.

I'm planning on heading up early Friday morning from Incline Village.  I'm up for Car pooling.  I also have a spare bedroom if you want to meet me in Tahoe Thursday night.
