    Hey Climbers,

Curious if anyone has any advice or knows how feasible climbing Whitney in May. It's been a pretty light snow year. Wondering how it would compare to Shasta in July (which I did last year).

    Thanks!

The crux will be getting permits if you don't have them.

For conditions there is a pretty active Facebook group simply called "Mt. Whitney" with lots of trip reports and condition updates (https://www.facebook.com/groups/30962451768). There's a trip report from Tuesday that the only difficulty is a bit of snow on the switchbacks, they just had microspikes and trekking poles and felt fine. So as long as the weather holds the main trail will be much easier than Avy Gulch on Shasta, just a bit longer in distance (but a bit less vert).

Awesome, thank you. I'll take a look at that facebook group. There's a good amount of permits available for May still, so I was able to snag a couple :)
