Join MAA at Suicide Rock for moderate traditional single & multi-pitch lead climbing. This is a classic location with a variety of 1-3 pitch crack & slab routes ranging from easy/moderate to difficult. Trad lead or follow climbing proficiency up to 5.6 required! ("Rock 6" / RCK 3.2). Loaner gear may be available. We have room for 4 teams of 2. Hope to have you out with us!

DETAILS:

  • What's happening: Multi-pitch trad climbing at Suicide rock, Southern California
  • When/Where to meet: 7am at Humber Park (24559 Fern Valley Rd, Idyllwild, CA 92549)
  • Site Info: Adventure Pass required for parking at Humber Park; moderate 30 minute hike from the parking area; Beta: Mountain Project 
  • Event Leader: David Krenik, Todd Martin
  • Minimum / Maximum: Min 2, Max 8
  • What to bring: harness, helmet, rock shoes, trad gear, belay device, nut tool, 5 locking carabiners, cordellette, webbing, slings, prusik, jacket, food, water, approach shoes
  • Medical: If you have any medical conditions pertinent to your participation on this event, please inform the event leaders after registration.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • In order to register you must be a Base, Peak, or Apex member.
  • Event leaders are experienced volunteers, but may not be certified guides.
  • This event is free of charge. MAA receives no direct financial gain for organizing and supporting this event.
  • Participant safety is our top priority. The itinerary described is the plan; however, circumstances beyond the leader's control may necessitate changes.
  • The event begins and ends at the trailhead. MAA does not insure ridesharing or other travel arrangements and bears no responsibility for them. Carpooling, ride sharing, or anything similar is strictly a private arrangement among individuals.
  • MAA event leaders carry communication devices and a medical kit; The primary event leader has current wilderness first aid and CPR training as well as MAA policy training.
